Manufacturing Production Supervisor

SUMMARY: This position serves as a focal point for all valve machining and assembling operations within the company. Coordinating the work of machinists, assemblers, along with engineering and sub-contractors to ensure timely delivery of quality parts and finished products to meet or exceed the customer delivery requirements.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

Responsible for maintaining a safe work environment, according to OSHA requirements, for all employees and ensuring all employees are working in a safe manner and wearing the proper protective equipment (PPE) at all times. This also includes implementing ergonomic work practices, identifying necessary safety equipment, ensuring machine guards are in place, working properly, and being used correctly.

Completes the production plan by scheduling and assigning production personnel in the machining of parts and finished valve assembly activities. Accomplishes work results by communicating expectations, establishing priorities, monitoring progress, resolving problems and reporting results of production activities.

Responsible for optimizing the use of equipment in the machining of raw parts and identifying secondary machining centers for these parts. Implement, coordinate and monitor lean manufacturing activities on the production floor.

Maintain machine schedules and priorities while coordinating activities with the production planner, inventory control supervisor and production personnel for timely completion of scheduled work orders.

Accomplishes manufacturing personnel results by communicating job performance expectations, monitoring and appraising job results, coaching, counseling, disciplining employees, coordinating and enforcing systems, policies and procedures. Insure that all HR policies are adhered to all of the time.

Responsible for the continuous cross training of manufacturing employees to maintain a flexible work group.

When required, coordinate customer inspection activities with sales, engineering and production personnel.

Coordinate the supplier “Outside Processing” activities with production planner and purchasing to meet customer requirements.

Ensure the continued compliance to ISO 9001 requirements. Insure that all QA procedures are followed including: first article inspection and acceptance, all non-conforming materials are reported through our NCR system, and all procedures are followed through final inspection and acceptance.

Maintain professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops, reviewing professional publications, bench marking state of the art practices and participating in professional societies.

Physical presence at the manufacturing facility is required.

QUALIFICATIONS: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

  • Associates degree or higher in Industrial or Mechanical Engineering.
  • Min 5 years supervision responsibilities in a machining shop environment.
  • Must have knowledge of Lean Manufacturing concepts and processes, such as value stream mapping, setup reduction, TPM, 5S, and visual systems etc.
  • Min 2 years planning/scheduling experience using an ERP system.

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Must be able to speak, read and write in English.

COMPUTER SKILLS

  • Demonstrated ability/experience with inventory management and MRP systems. Experience with Syspro Inventory Management and MRP system is a plus.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Word and Excel software.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Windows operating system.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Must be capable of solving complex level mathematics and geometry problems.
